Bike Blog
During the entire month of September I really intended to ride my bikes. After all, I transported two of my favorites here all the way from North Carolina just so I could be "hardcore" again. Unfortunately or fortunately the Universe had other plans for me. September was to be a month of contemplation, inward strokes, and preparation for the months ahead. I was still sleeping on a friend's couch, scrambling to get financial aid sorted out, and physically, mentally and emotionally drained most of the time. September was not my month for creating a new fitness plan. I needed some stability first. However, my roommates and I decided that we'd at least start to modify our lifestyles to be more sustainable, so we started carpooling every day. During my inward journeys, another shift began to take place in me...my diet effortlessly shifted back to the healthy practices I'd maintained in years past. By the time the month of October rolled around, I was another 15 pounds lighter, on the way to being stress-free, and finally ready to begin my new fitness adventures. Though this class is now over, the idea of reducing the amount I drive my gas-powered vehicle while creating a healthier lifestyle for myself has finally taken root and begun to manifest into something beautiful. I'm still not riding my bike to class everyday, but it's an ongoing process. I'm on a bike at least a few times a week, doing Sun salutes in the morning and evening, and carpooling with friends and roommates whenever a car is needed. I know that riding my bike is an option and a healthy, responsible alternative to driving my car. The way I feel after each ride motivates me to make sure I've got the proper winter gear to keep this going throughout the season.
